Westbourne Early Years Centre

We are a supportive setting with friendly, experienced and qualified staff including a qualified teacher. We believe that the nursery experience should teach children to be confident, eager, and enthusiastic learners. We aim to provide an enabling environment which is stimulating, caring and well resourced.
SENCO holds a BA HONS and is a Level 6 Early Years Professional with extensive training in working with children with SEND including Speech and Language concerns and autism. Also Solihull trained. Deputy SENCO holds a BA Hons, a Degree in SEND coordination and QTS with extensive experience working with children with SEND.
All staff have trauma informed training and training in developing children with speech language and communication needs. Many of the staff are also trained in Makaton.
Westbourne has a wide range of experience in working with children with severe and complex needs and with children who have experienced prolonged trauma.
We run small groups for language development with differentiated offers to support each child’s short term plan. We also run daily ‘Attention builders’ groups for children with ASC. Throughout Covid lockdowns we have also offered daily 1:1 virtual special times for all children with specific plans. T
The Centre has very good links with the SEND teams, speech and language therapists and CAMHS.
