We offer a safe environment and a variety of activities for children to have fun, make friends and enjoy learning through play.The Gardens Nursery, established in 1987, resides in a large, open and innovative building and is led by Sarah Bokaie and her team of qualified and experienced staff offer children, a space to enjoy learning through play.
The nursery offers children a varied and fun filled day within a structured, safe and secure environment. The Nursery is open from 8am until 6pm, Monday to Friday, 51 weeks a year for children between the ages of 9 months and 5 years old.  The 33-place baby unit provides full day care for 9 months – 2 1/2 year olds in bright well-equipped rooms, each with their own garden, offering a wide range of fun activities.
Children over the age of 2/2½ years benefit from a nursery school routine during term time (38 weeks a year) and more informal sessions during the holidays. This will ensure they enjoy a varied curriculum throughout the year and have lots of fun. The bright airy classrooms provide a versatile space to use a variety of exciting equipment. All rooms open out onto a beautiful, safe and secure roof garden with an all-weather sandpit and are filled with an abundance of equipment.  Their magical faraway tree is a very special place, accessed by a grassy bridge where children enjoy listening to stories under the leafy canopy.
Children benefit from a nursery school routine during term-time and more informal sessions during the holidays. This ensures they enjoy a varied curriculum throughout the year and also have lots of fun!  Throughout the year different themes are introduced (e.g., dinosaurs, the seaside, farm animals) incorporating colour, shape, number and letter recognition. During the week, the children participate in a variety of activities including Mandarin, ballet, music, singing, French, cooking, tennis, sports and lots of messy play with sand & water, play dough, clay, and paint & glue.
The children enjoy visits to the local park and outings to a variety of destinations such as farms visits, nature trips and fruit picking. One afternoon a week the older nursery children bring a packed lunch as part of pre-school preparations. These sessions are more work based and include a simple reading scheme.
Children are supported in developing their own potential at their own pace. The planned curriculum is tailored to the needs of each individual child. By means of developmentally appropriate play activities and a high level of individual adult input, The Gardens offer a curriculum which enables children to progress towards the Early Learning Goals throughout the Foundation Stage and prepares them for the National Curriculum and ‘Big School’.
There is an eco-friendly ethos at The Gardens. Our philosophy is to use organic food, ethically sourced products and support good animal welfare. From nappies and wipes to the cotton wool and lotion they use on your child’s skin, their aim is to provide a clean, healthy and nurturing environment from the day your child walks through the door of The Gardens.
