We train our teachers on neurodiversity focusing on establishing an affirmative practice. We are supported by our Area SENCo and other professionals who visit the nursery throughout the year.
As of June 2025, all our staff is also trained in Makaton.
All staff members have access to the Educare portal where they can train on different topics. We make first aid compulsory for everyone and we particularly focus on safeguarding and equality and diversity.
We are a small setting which can accommodate for 30 children a year. All of our families live locally and that helps us create a familiar and supportive environment. We have experience working with children with ASD and SL needs.
Our SENCo runs intervention groups outdoors and indoors and we welcome speech and language therapists to hold their sessions at the nursery. We observe our children’s development and implement short term plans when necessary. We have successfully carried out ECHPs and referred children inside and outside Islington.
Every month, we display Bright Star’s local offer and have an open communication line with parents regarding available support for their children when needed.
