Our SENCO is trained at level 4 and regularly attends training courses on SEN as well as termly SENCO forums with other professionals. The SENCO is also trained in Makaton. All staff attend regular training throughout the year and often group SEN training as part of our inset days, such as training on children with Down Syndrome before a child started at our setting. We have experience at working with some children with severe and complex needs from the few children with SEN that have attended our setting. This experience includes Autism and Down Syndrome and well as less severe needs such as speech and language delays and difficulties. As we are only a small setting we cannot run any SEN groups however we do support our local Children’s Centre, Kate Greenaway, and can signpost parents to local groups and available services such as Downright Excellence and Contact A Family. We work with the local inclusion team, Area SENCO and other professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapist and physiotherapists etc.Beckett House Montessori Nursery School in Islington is a family‑run pre‑school accredited by the Montessori Evaluation and Accreditation Board and rated Good by Ofsted.
